Why no phone numbers yet
A phone number that has changed is worse than no phone number, a woman calls, gets nothing, and gives up. Under our verification policy a listing shows contact details and a ✓ Verified badge only once we have confirmed them with the facility itself in the last twelve months. That call-back programme is running now, province by province.

Money should never be the reason you did not go
In the public sector
Screening at a primary healthcare clinic is free at the point of use. Hospital care is means-tested under the Uniform Patient Fee Schedule: if you earn below the threshold, or you are pregnant, or you are on a social grant, you fall into the fully subsidised category. Bring your ID and proof of income if you have it, but you cannot be refused emergency care for lack of either.
Your rights, in one paragraph
You may see your own records. You may ask for a second opinion. You may refuse a treatment. You must be told the risks before you consent. You may complain, to the facility manager, then the provincial Department of Health, then the Office of Health Standards Compliance. Put every complaint in writing and keep a copy.
On a medical aid?
Cancer is a Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB). Your scheme must fund diagnosis, treatment and care for PMB conditions, it cannot simply run out. Schemes may require a designated service provider and may apply clinical protocols, so ask both questions up front.
If your scheme refuses: ask for the refusal in writing with the clinical reason, then lodge a complaint with the Council for Medical Schemes. Refusals are frequently reversed.
